It's too bad that some parts of the world don't believe in free speech.

Salman Rushdie, an India-born writer, was scheduled to appear at the country's largest literary festival, but canceled his appearance after receiving death threats that stem from his 1988 novel The Satanic Verses.

Some Muslims are still not over the book that sparked violent protests shortly after its release and earned the British citizen a death sentence in fatwa from Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

The famed writer explained his predicament in a written statement, reading:

"I have now been informed by intelligence sources in Maharashtra and Rajasthan that paid assassins from the Mumbai underworld may be on their way to Jaipur to 'eliminate' me," Rushdie said in a written statement. While I have some doubts about the accuracy of this intelligence, it would be irresponsible of me to come to the festival in such circumstances; irresponsible to my family, to the festival audience, and to my fellow writers. I will therefore not travel to Jaipur as planned."

Other writers at the event were not happy to hear the news and read selections from the banned novel in protest. After two were asked to stop reading by organizers, two more authors did the same thing!

Right on!

Hopefully those men and women don't get any death threats now, but we applaud their defiance! Everyone has a voice and everyone has a right to be heard -- even if others don't agree with their message!

Of that latter, Matt Boner opened up to Paper Magazine about what audiences can expect from him in the role of a stripper and reveals who has the most talent taking it all off!

On being arrested as a Texas teen:

A bunch of friends of mine and I decided after we graduated high school we would just go visit the high school and leave some posters and signs up that expressed how we felt about certain faculty members...They were just incredibly offensive, juvenile things that only an 18-year-old could come up with. We were busted and I actually got away but I came back to make sure my friends were alright and then I sort of turned myself in. [The posters had] ... drawings. Elaborate, elaborate drawings [on them]...Let's not go there.

On filming Magic Mike:

It was terrifying and exciting and enervating and intimidating. All those things.

On who was a better dancer, him or Channing Tatum:

Channing by far! Channing's dancing in this movie is, I mean, it defies the laws of physics! It's insane. I can't wait for people to see it. They're just gonna freak out. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever seen

You can't beat yourself up about it, Matt! Channing has years and years of real life experience under his G-string. We're sure if you had more time to practice, you would've felt more at his level.
